Love Emblem

Victoria 'Vickie' Helen Korab (nee Buszo), age 93, of Lorain, died on April 21, 2012 peacefully at home in the loving care of her family and New Life Hospice Center staff.
Vickie was born in Cleveland, Ohio on August 12, 1918. At age six she moved with her parents to Vilno, Poland. She returned to Garfield Heights, Ohio in 1937. She married Walter Korab on March 2, 1946 at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Garfield, Heights.
Vickie was a devoted homemaker and seamstress extraordinaire, sewing professionally and personally all her life. She made all her own clothes with style and distinction. Vickie began her career at Richman Brothers in Cleveland. She also worked for Sears at its mattress division as well as the former Lorain Garment Factory. She was also an airplane parts inspector at Thompson Products during World War II and the business manager for Maple Inn, a tavern and restaurant she and her husband, Walter, owned and operated for over 35 years in Sheffield Township, Ohio.
Vickie was a thoughtful and kind person, fun to be around and inspiring. She will always be remembered for her infectious laughter, tremendous sense of humor, generosity, and love of family, friends and life.
She was a member of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, Lorain, the Society for the Preservation of Polish Culture, and the Ladies' Auxiliary of the United Polish Club, Elyria. Sewing, traveling, crocheting, and gardening brought her much joy.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Walter; daughters, Phyllis of Fort Lauderdale, FL; Chris of Lorain and niece Irene Moore (Krutkiewicz) and great-nephews Jason and Jared Moore of Lorain. She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Josephine Buszo (nee Dragun); and brothers Frank (Ann) and Mitchell.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Prayers will be said at the funeral center on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 418 West 15th Street, Lorain. The Reverend Robert J. Glepko, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church Renovation Fund, 418 West 15th Street, Lorain, OH 44052.
