Rosalie McFarland (nee Yacobozzi), age 84, a lifelong resident of Lorain, passed away Friday, October 7, 2011 at Mercy Regional Medical Center.
Rosalie was born on April 18, 1927 in Lorain, Ohio to the late, Thomas and Julia (nee Caserta) Yacobozzi. She was a graduate of Lorain High School and continued her education at Cleveland State University obtaining a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, she went on to further her education at Kent State University earning credits in education.
She began her career teaching Junior High in the Lorain City Schools and then went on to teach Junior High at St. Thomas School, Sheffield Lake where she retired from after many years of teaching. Prior to her teaching career, Rosalie worked for Thew Shovel in Lorain.
Rosalie was a member of the Church of St. Peter, Lorain. After retirement she became an avid bowler and she and her husband, John, were involved in several senior bowling leagues at Rebmans Bowling Lanes. Crossword puzzles brought her much enjoyment.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, John; daughters, Melissa (Steve) Pennell, of Londonderry, NH and Susan (Edward) Sherry, of Lakewood, Ohio; sisters, Anita Litten and Adele Yacobozzi, both of Lorain.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant daughter.
The McFarland family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral and Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of St. Peter, 3655 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. (EVERYONE PLEASE MEETAT CHURCH) Fr. Eric Orzech, Associate Pastor, will officiate. Inurnment will follow in Calvary Cemetery,
In lieu of flowers the family suggest contributions be made in her memory to the Disabled American Veterans, Lorain County Food Bank or the Salvation Army.
