Mary Magdalene McCormick, 82, of Lorain, entered into heaven Saturday, September 24, 2011. She died with her family by her side at Mercy Regional Medical Center after a long illness.
She was born January 21, 1929 in Grundy, Virginia and had been a resident of Lorain for the past 63 years, but never lost her sweet Virginia accent.
She was a member of the Grace Baptist Church. Her interests included spending time with her family, real estate investing, playing slot machines and owning her own gift shop. Mary's favorite thing to do was to love and spoil her grandchildren.
Mrs. McCormick is survived by her daughters Helen Gongloff of Huron, Lois (Albert) Grasso of Newport Coast, California, Martha (Ken)Dellinger of Lorain, Susan Santanio of Lorain, Bobbie Jo (Ivan) Jackson of Lorain, and her sons Johnnie McCormick of Lorain, Ronnie McCormick of Elyria, and Donald (Sharon) McCormick of Cardiff by the Sea, California; 18 grandchildren, Patricia (Fred) Untalasco, Edward Moff, Timothy (Jana) Moff, Teresa Macura, Harry (Heather) Gongloff, Jeremiah (Tina) Gongloff, Michael (Satu) Grasso, Todd (Keri) Roby, Georgia (Stephen) Fuller, David Hayslip, Daniel Hayslip, Chad Hayslip, Johnnie McCormick, Grayson McCormick, Nicholas McCormick, Sophia Atkinson, Symone Jackson, Cameron Jackson, and 18 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son Tommy Muncy in 1990, daughter Linda Hayslip in 2008 and a great grandson Baby Kevin Champe in 2009.
Friends may call Friday from 4:00 pm until the time of funeral service at 7:00 pm in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, Ohio. Rev. Jay Roller of Grace Baptist Church will officiate.
Graveside services will be on Saturday at 11:00 am, at Ridge Hill Memorial Park. (Please meet at the cemetery). In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to:www.alpha-1foundation.org. phone 800-521-3025.
