Anna Marie Brunotts (nee DeSantis), a long-time resident of Lorain, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2011. Born in York Run, PA, December 16, 1911, to Dominic and Antonia DeSantis, she moved with her family to Lorain at an early age.
Anna was one of five sisters, Lena Sposato (deceased), Eva Costin, Mickey Kosanovich and Violet Horvath and one brother, Peter, also deceased. She attended Garfield School and Lorain High School before marrying her sweetheart, Anthony (Tony) Paul Brunotts (deceased 1999) in 1930.
Anna lived in Lorain and remained in her home until 2009 when she moved to Columbus to be closer to her family. Beautiful, as evidenced by her many trophies won for such in her youth, Anna’s true beauty shone from within as a selfless, gracious and kind woman, friend, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
A member of Lakeland Women’s Club as well as various exercise organizations in the area, she participated in both aerobics and line dancing. Ann worked a short time at White’s company and later at Winkleman’s in Lorain, but undoubtedly her greatest happiness in life was her abundance of family and friends. She was a Brownie Leader,
Room Mother, and PTA participant for her children. She was also a lifelong member of St. Peter’s Church.
Her talents in the kitchen were unparalleled, as she loved to bake for the fortunate many who tested her creations both in and out of her home. She especially loved baking for family, and whenever traveling to see her children and grandchildren she would lovingly pack and additional suitcase filled with homemade baked goods and proceed to host a feast. In her final years, her greatest joy came from the marriage of her youngest son, Bob, and the recent birth of her two beautiful grandchildren.
Anna is survived by her daughter, Carol Lewis, of California; sons, Ronald of Dayton and Robert, of Columbus; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; sisters, Eva Costin, Mickey Kosanovich and Violet Horvath.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony; parents, Dominick and Antonia DeSantis; brother, Peter DeSantis; and sister, Lena Sposato.
The Brunotts family will receive family and friends on Sunday, July 24, 2011 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst where closing prayers will be said on Monday, July 25, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at the Church of St. Peter, 3655 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. Rev. Fr. Eric Orzech, Associate Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Ridgehill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.
