Lorain – Maryellen Lindway, 83 years of age, finished her earthly pilgrimage on July 2, 2011 at New Life Hospice Center with Alzheimer’s. Maryellen lit up any room she occupied with her vibrant personality and gift of hospitality. Her love and warmth for people blessed her life with family and friends that loved her dearly. Maryellen enjoyed reading, photography, singing, dancing, traveling, gift giving, and loving on her children and grandchildren. She held the office of State President of Ancient Order of Hibernians and President of Lorain Chapter of Professional Secretaries. She also was the Event Planner for many gatherings and her husband’s PolyOne retirement club. A dedicated Christian and member of St. Peters Church in Lorain. She retired from Gilford/Ciba Corning, Oberlin from a career in Administration.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, John; daughter, Nancy K. Lindway, of Lorain; son, Martin (Debbie) Lindway, of NC; grandchildren, John Lynch, of CA , Molly, Kellyn and Aidan Lindway, of NC; brothers, Edward O'Keefe, of OH, Gerry O'Keefe, of MO and Terry O'Keefe, of FLA. She was preceded in death by her twin children, Michael David and Nancy Ellen Lindway; parents, Edward and Mary O'Keefe; brother, Danny O'Keefe; sister, Patty O'Keefe Ruehlman.
A celebration of the life of Maryellen will be held in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst, Ohio, on Friday July 8th from 4:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m., a service will be held from 6:45 p.m until 8:00 p.m., viewing “The Essence of the Life of Maryellen” A Memorial Movie of Maryellen's life and journey through Alzheimer's and onward to Heaven. It may also be viewed online at http://www.vimeo.com/26082970. Closing Prayers will be said Saturday, July 9, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. in the Funeral Center followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at the Church of St. Peter, 3655 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. Rev. Fr. Craig Hovanec, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp. Online condolences may be left for the Lindway family at www.dovinreberjones.com
