DonaldJ. Leska, age 85, of Lorain, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 1, 2012 at New Life Hospice of St. Joseph Residential Center.
A lifelong resident of Lorain, he was born on July 24, 1926 to the late Benjamin and Kate Leska.
He had served in the US Army during World War II.
Following his time in the service, Donald began working at US Steel in the mill. Donald then began his career with the Lorain City Police Department. He was with the force for 26 years, retiring in 1978. After retiring, he worked as security officer for 10 years at St. Joseph Hospital in Lorain.
He was a member of the former St. Stanislaus Church, Lorain, and currently a member of St. Joseph Church in Amherst.
Donald enjoyed playing golf and bowling and also vegetable gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary (nee Pliszka); and his daughter, Donna; and his sister, Virginia Costello of Arizona.
Donald was preceded in death by his brother, Joe Leska and his sisters, Florence Rock and Pearl Zivic.
Private visitation and funeral service was held for the family at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
