Roy was a hero to me. He was like an older brother when we grew up. When his father passed away, his Mom (my Aunt Lizzie - I'm so sorry you never got to meet her - she was an absolute delight) and Roy became like an extension to our family - we did everything together. I admired him so much for the person he became - a good family man who loved his wife & children so much. I

Uncle Roy will without a doubt be missed. He loved his family and would do anything for anyone. I remember the day Uncle Roy came to our rescue my mom was picking my sister and I up from school when we got a flat tire in the parking lot and was stranded. Without hesitation he jump into his vehicle and took the tire to the nearest place to get it plugged so that we could get home. He was just

I am so sorry for your loss. May God be with the family to help them deal with the loss.
Come to me
God saw that you were getting tired and a cure was not to be. So he put His arms around you and whispered, "Come to me." You didn't deserve what you went thru and so He gave you rest. God's Garden must be beautiful, he only takes the best.

Go to God
by Grace E. Easley
When a friend is feeling sorrow
That you wish that you could share,
And no words of any language
Can remove the grief they bear,
When the unexpected shadows
Fall across the path they trod,
There is no human remedy,
When a brave heart's torn asunder,
And it's courage seems too small
There is no solace found in pain
That overtakes us all.
When hot tears keep on falling
'Til they drench the very sod,
To find someone to dry them,
There's a reason for each heartache,

Im Dian's daughter by the way. I know this is a trying time for you and I hope it all works out for the better. I dont completely understand how you feel but I know that you are upset about all of this.

I rember meeting Roy and Norma while I worked as a cashier at Certified gas station on Lowell St. He always came in with a smile on his face and made my day a little bit brighter. Norma also came in with a smile and talked to my mom Karen Elder who lost my dad to cancer. I remember Norma going to nursing school and how proud Roy was that she was becoming a nurse. Uncle Roy is without a doubt one of the greastest persons to ever live on this earth. His family was always first. He loved his wife, kids and grand kids more than anything. Roy ALWAYS put his needs last, he wanted to make sure everyone else was taken care of no matter what. The old saying "he'll give you the shirt off his back" is how he lived his life. If i could ask god to pick my guardian angle i would ask for my Uncle "Roy Porter".

Some good memories to share with everyone about my Dad:
We all loved going on trips in your big red ross truck. I remember when you brought your truck home to be cleaned, I would play house in the bunk of it. You would always blare red sovine "daddys girl" for me jess and shug. I also remember the trucking words dad used, something about "having a high profile fifth wheel on the dolley", whatever that means haha

There are so many memories it is hard to choose one in particular. The Chenoweth and Porter families have spent hundreds of summer days at the softball and baseball fields. A lot of memories where shared around those dugouts and stands and I will cherish every one. Mr. Porter was a great friend and will be missed tremendously.

Fishing: I remeber getting up at 4am to go fishing for Walleye on Lake Erie with Dad. He would always let me steer the boat. I remeber going so fast and jumping waves that the whole motor would come up out of the water. We would always drop anchor and jump off and swim after we fished for a while. I remember his cut off blue jeans he would always wear. I remeber trying to cast out my line and

Roy delivered on a continuous basis for quite some time to Vickery Environmental. We always enjoyed his pleasant, laid back personality and have missed him since he got sick. We were kept abreast of his condition by many of his co-workers and were very saddened to hear of his death. Our condolences to the family of one great guy. We will keep Roy and all of you in our thoughts and prayers.

Roy was one of the most genuine, honorable people I have ever known. He always made me feel like part of the family, from day one. I’ll miss playing cards at the kitchen table late into the night, where I learned that reading a couple of poker books wasn’t enough to beat ol’ Roy at a game he had been playing long before I watched it on ESPN! I loved watching Browns games together (even though that terrible towel always

Our family connection started with the boys and baseball. How fortunate we all were to share such good times. I (amy) will never forget that deep voice shouting out to "Dude" or "Bubba". To me, he was a great example of a man...strong, caring, giving, warm smile, headstrong :), loved his family beyond words. I was honored to have shared just a small portion of a great life. May his memory go on forever in his children and grandchildren! You are all on both of our minds and in our hearts.

I remember that time that him and Dad were trying to load up all those pigs on his truck and they wrestled them everywhere. I remember when him and I and Old Man Walt and Arlin used to go fishing on the Vermilion River. One time we wiped all those boats out because our steering was broken. I just liked when him and Nay-Nays would come over and sit on the porch and talk. Roy is proud of all you kids and now he isn't suffering anymore. He is up there in heaven with PaPa.

My favorite memory of Roy is when him and Dad tried to load them pigs up in the back of his truck - those pigs were wrestling them all over the place. And, when him and I and Old Man Walt and Arlin used to go fishing on the Vermilion River. We wiped all them boats out cause are steering wheel was broke. I enjoyed when him and NayNays would come over and sit with us on the porch. I know he is proud of all you kids, but he is up in heaven with PaPa now.

In what is the most difficult time in a family's life I will share a few things I remember about Roy, and close with a poem I found that fits well with remembering a Father.
He could fit more nightcrawlers onto the hook of an Erie Dearie than anyone I ever seen.
I remember wading chest deep in the Milan river fishing for carp and catfish.
I can remember playing in the arcade at Stoney's while he bowled on Friday and Saturday nights.

Norma, Shug, Jess, Neece, Dude, and Reebe I am so sorry for your loss. Roy was one good man and we all know he is in Heaven now, and will hurt no more. I have to just leave what I will always remember about him when I hear his name. The man had incredible hair. He could have given Elvis a run for his money. It was perfect every time I ever saw him. Rest in peace Uncle Roy.

Roy was an amazing man whose strength and loving heart pulled his family together! The bond you all share as a family is amazing and one to be cherished! Although I didn't know him to well, I remember the times where he would just show up at work with that big grin on his face! Over the past few months I have heard some amazing stories about him! It’s like a storm
That cuts a path
It’s breaks your will
It feels like that
You think your lost
But your not lost on your own
Your not alone
I will stand by you
I will help you through
When you’ve done all you can do
If you can’t cope
I will dry your eyes
I will fight your fight
I will hold you tight
And I wont let go
It hurts my heart
To see you cry
I know it’s dark
This part of life
Oh it finds us all
And we’re too small
To stop the rain
